There Is Only One Moo Duk Kwan®

Joint 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) fund-raising campaign

The 501(c)(3) U.S. Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan FOUNDATION and the 501(c)(4) U.S. Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan Federation® are engaged in a joint fund-raising drive with some very ambitious goals to be achieved.

The Kwan Jang Nim, the Technical Advisory Committee, the Regional Examiners, the 501(c)(4) Federation Board and the 501(c)(3) Foundation Board are fully committed to this important initiative and are actively requesting full member support in order to assure the success of this campaign which will help fund ongoing programs to preserve our art’s unique identity and heritage as passed from the Founder to our Kwan Jang Nim and as entrusted to the U.S. Federation to protect and preserve.

The 501(c)(4) Federation and the 501(c)(3) Foundation provide many different means for all who desire to contribute their support during this campaign to do so.

The 501(c)(3) FOUNDATION stands ready to receive tax deductible donations from participating members as well as altruistic members, parents or businesses who may be unable or ineligible to attend or participate in Soo Bahk Do events, but who still desire to extend their support for our art and its values because someone asked them to do so.

“Altruism is a concern for the well being of others. Altruism is the opposite of selfishness. Altruism is an internal motivation to provide something of value to anyone but oneself. Pure altruism consists of sacrificing something other than the self (e.g., sacrificing, time, energy, possessions) with no expectation of any compensation or benefits, either direct or indirect (for instance recognition of the giving).”

Volunteers in the Foundation and the Federation set a powerful altruistic example with substantial, selfless donations of time and energy in service to fellow members, local communities and numerous other causes. Over the years, many non-practitioners have expressed their belief in the benefits and improvement in the quality of lives that Soo Bahk Do training provides and as delivered to others by Federation members. So during this campaign as Foundation and Federation members continue expressing altruism via the giving of time, energy, active event participation and much more, the 501(c)(3) Foundation stands ready to receive contributions from those who wish to express their support and altruism through their monetary donations.

The 501(c)(4) Federation is offering a number of non-tax deductible high value, limited time offers for those who prefer to contribute by these means (i.e., Special training opportunities, special events, Lifetime membershipsLifetime Institute Subscriptions,  new products and more)

Those who prefer to contribute through active participation can also extend their support at any of the ten (10) upcoming Regional Dan Tests and fund-raising events, attend upcoming TAC Seminar appearances or the Moment With The Masters or Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa Visitor tracks. Event registration forms are available here.

The TAC has completely revamped the visitor training tracks and schedule for 2012 so an attendee’s Moment With The Masters experience can literally be 1 to 8 days in duration and attendees can train as much or as little as they want during their stay. All ranks can attend the 9th -11th and 3rd Dan & Up can attend all other days + spouses or parents are invited even for the week. Attendees can celebrate the Moo Duk Kwan’s® 67th Anniversary at the midweek banquet and meet the international World Moo Duk Kwan Symposium delegates. Attendees can configure their personalized training experience to fit their schedule, their budget and to match their physical condition whether they prefer to just enjoy the serene, mountain setting ofCampOakbridge or just relax and recharge their spirit by soaking up the social energy of this unique experience with fellow members. Visitor training tracks are separate from the Ko Dan Ja candidate track and attendees may participate in only the sessions they prefer. Sam Dans will learn material required for future Ko Dan Ja testing and become familiar with the Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa process.

The 501(c)(4) Federation and 501(c)(3) Foundation each stand ready to receive the contributions of those who are inspired, educated and motivated to provide their support and donations at this time. These three elements will drive the success of this initiative and the Technical Advisory Committee charged the 2012 Ko Dan Ja Candidates to assume an integral roll in the success of this campaign by demonstrating their Moo Do Ja Seh, skill and their ability to inspire, educate and motivate others.

These three (3) skills are crucial for every instructor seeking to pass our art from one generation of students to the next and the TAC expects that all Ko Dan Ja should possess them and be able to demonstrate them.

Certified Studio Owners are already successfully inspiring, educating and motivating students to take positive actions in their lives through their training.  Instructors understand and appreciate the benefits every student gains from their Soo Bahk Do® training and Certified Soo Bahk Do® instructors improve the quality of each student's life and our society.
